J&K STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST (JKSET-2016)

As per authorization by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, will conduct the J&K State Level Eligibility Test (hereinafter called JKSET), for determining the eligibility of candidates for recruitment as Assistant Professors/Assistant Professors in the Colleges and the Universities of Jammu and Kashmir State subject to the conditions detailed in clause 1.5.
After the successful conduct of the JKSET-2013 the U.G.C. vide letter No.F.No.7-2/97(NET/ JKSET) dated 7th May, 2015 has granted accreditation to the University of Kashmir, Srinagar, to hold three JKSETs in three consecutive years in the following subjects/areas.

CENTERS OF EXAMINATION:
There will be two JKSET Centres at University of Kashmir, Srinagar and Uiversity of Jammu, Jammu each with a numbers of Examination subcentres in Srinagar & Jammu cities only. The centre of examination once opted by a candidate shall not be changed under any circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria: 
Only those candidates are eligible to appear in the JKSET who have completed/are pursuing a UGC specified P.G. degree. The JKSET shall be open to all such candidates who have not been convicted by any Court and have passed Masters Degree Examination in the concerned subject/area with at least 55% (without rounding off) (General Category) and 50%(without rounding off) (OBC/ SC/ ST/ PWD Category) of the aggregate marks or its equivalent grade. Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the final year/or Semester IIIrd and/or IV of their post-graduation and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose examinations have been delayed may also apply for appearing in the JKSET. However, such candidates will be considered eligible for Assistant Professors/ Assistant Professors after they have completed the Masters Degree Examination in the concerned subject/area within two years from the date of JKSET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

NET/JKSET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors/ Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the "University Grants Commission (Minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/ JKSET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions." The Candidates who have passed the UGC/ CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET/JKSET

The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (JKSET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship held prior to Ist June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Lectureship anywhere in India. For JKSET held from Ist June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor/ Assistant Professor only in the Universities/colleges belonging to the state from where they have cleared their JKSET. All JKSET qualified candidates are also eligible to appear in NET, if they so desire. The Curriculum and Syllabus for each subject/area of the JKSET will be the same as prescribed for NET by the UGC/CSIR.

SCHEME OF JKSET:
The Test will comprise of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on (SUNDAY) in two separate sessions as under:

MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION:
Question papers in all subjects, except in Oriental Classical and Modern Indian Languages,
shall be JKSET in English. The medium of answering questions in all the subjects other than
Oriental Classical or Modern Indian Languages shall be English only. The question papers in
Modern Indian Languages shall be JKSET in the language concerned , whereas the question
papers in the Oriental Classical Languages shall be JKSET either in the concerned language/s
itself or in cognate Modern Indian Language or in English, and the candidates shall answer
the questions in the concerned language.

Qualification Criteria: To qualify exam, The candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as given below
